Business Problem:
Billing discrepancies cause a considerable leak in revenues, denting the profitability of wireless operators. Settlement of roaming charges between operators can be complicated and time-consuming. Payment of large sums of money is often delayed due to reconciliation problems. Therefore, the client wanted to adopt revenue assurance strategies to proactively measure, manage and reduce revenue losses from various roaming revenue streams.The solution had to address the requirements of the operators having services in multiple circles across the country, having centralized or decentralized billing. In addition most of the roaming revenue is measured by the executive team and is scrutinized on a recurring frequency. Hence the marketing team’ needs to do a complete Trend analysis and region specific reporting had to be incrporsated as well.

BlueSquare™ – Revenue Assurance suite from Baysquare Technologies is an innovative and powerful solution for quick and accurate revenue chain audit and identification of major leakege areas. In this case the customer had an identified RA roll-out plan which meant addressing Roaming Data reconciliation as a first phase.

For this particular phase, Baysquare’s adapters automated the collation of all roaming data such as CDR, MOU and Charge break-up from multiple, independent network entities such as billing system, data clearinghouse, switch adapter, mediation adapter, and IN adapter for post and pre-paid customers. The system stores all relevant roaming data from the data files passing through the system after making necessary transformations and reconcile the roaming data information amongst the billing system, data clearinghouse, switch adapter, and IN adapter. The reconciliation results are stored in a data repository for analysis and reporting. Baysquare™ also validates data coming from all network element before it is fed to the reconciliation application. The validations include format checks,content checks, rate verification, duplicate checks and fraud checks.The solution ultimately provides an executive dash-board in addition to the whole suite of reports, which are targeted to satisfy the needs of the operations team, marketing team and financial team of the Client.
